The Democrat Retreat Plan

Here is an e-mail I received today:

You've read recently about Nancy Pelosi and John Murtha's attempts to micromanage the Iraq war from the U.S. House. Well, not to be outdone, the Democrats in the U.S. Senate are taking up a resolution today that would force President Bush to withdraw our troops from Iraq whether we have reached our goals or not.

That's a dangerous move, and it's not just Republicans who think so. Two years ago, Senator Hillary Clinton said, "I don't think we should be setting a deadline ... that just gives a green light to the insurgents and the terrorists, that if they just wait us out they can basically have the country." Just two months ago, she reaffirmed her position: "I'm not going to support a specific deadline." Last week, Democrat Senator Evan Bayh said "I, for example, am not in support of circling a date on a calendar and saying, 'No matter what, we're out on that date.'" Democrat Senator Jim Webb agrees: "Anyone who tells you we can set a timetable for withdrawal doesn't understand war."

The experts also say that setting a deadline is a recipe for failure. The government's most recent National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq concluded that "If Coalition forces were withdrawn ... we judge that this almost certainly would lead to a significant increase in the scale and scope of sectarian conflict in Iraq." Our intelligence experts added, "If such a rapid withdrawal were to take place, we judge that the ISF [Iraqi Security Forces] would be unlikely to survive."

No one wants our brave men and women in uniform to come home as much as President Bush.

But to set a deadline for withdrawal with no consideration of the situation on the ground is a recipe for disaster. It would send the signal to the terrorists in Iraq that all they have to do is wait us out, and then sweep in when we retreat. It would send a signal to our enemies worldwide that we are not serious about the War on Terror. And it would send a signal to our troops that their efforts don't matter.

There is a way to bring our men and women home, and that is to help them achieve their goals. That's why the President is beefing up security in Baghdad, changing the way we interact and train Iraqi troops, and making sure the Iraqi government lives up to its responsibilities. It is these steps that will lead to an end to the war, not on the terrorists' terms, but on our terms.

Contact your Senators today. Tell them to oppose the Democrats' attempt to micromanage the war. Tell them that we cannot leave Iraq in the hands of terrorists.

Ignoring Errors of Logic in Global Warming Debate

Just as Galileo and Einstein transcended the "consensus" of their day, so too will a growing body of scientific evidence eventually vindicate non-alarmist views on global warming, says Fred Singer, adjunct scholar with the National Center for Policy Analysis, professor emeritus of Environmental Science at the University of Virginia and president of the Science and Environmental Policy Project.

A new book co-authored by Singer and Dennis Avery entitled, "Unstoppable Global Warming: Every 1500 Years," says much of the discussion on global warming has ignored key points. For example:

• A 1997 survey of U.S. state climatologists found that 90 percent agreed with the statement that "scientific evidence indicates variations in global temperature are likely to be naturally occurring and cyclical over very long periods of time.
  
• One of the extraterrestrial factors frequently overlooked in global warming science is the sun itself; although it was thought at one time to be a "constant star," the sun in fact has periods of variability that impact the earth's climate.
  
• Satellite and high-altitude weather balloon observations show that -- contrary to what has been widely reported -- the lower atmosphere is not trapping lots of additional heat as a result of higher CO2 concentrations.
  

"The earth continually warms and cools," Singer writes in the book. "The cycle is undeniable, ancient, often abrupt and global. It is also unstoppable. Isotopes in the ice and sediment cores, ancient tree rings and stalagmites tell us it is linked to small changes in the irradiance of the sun."

The Drifters Vs No Mames

Tonight our dart team won 4 and lost 8 games vs The Drifters.

I threw pretty good over my average and am up to a 1.96 MPR (Marks Per Round).

Tom H threw for us tonight. He had a great time and is looking forwad to playing with us again.

Phil and I won a game on just sheer points. I had him hit the 17s over and over again to get the point up and I worked on closing the numbers. Since we won the game that strategy worked pretty well. The very next game they made sure to close the 17s early. I would've matter whether it was the 17s 16s or what ever the play works well.

Here's how it worked. We had to shooting against the stronger dart thrower and their weaker dart thrower.

Phil, that was shooting before the the opposing team's strong player would just shoot any number that can have points accumulate. In this case the 17s. The stronger player (according to the correct Cricket strategy) should do nothing but try to get ahead again in points. As long as the our team was ahead in points, then me the other person that was shooting before the weaker player would then concentrate on hitting and closing the numbers. This in effect takes the stronger player on the other team out of the game.

Graffiti Occurs in Rosemount

This morning when I took Dixie out for her morning business, I looked over to the Methodist Church garage and saw this. I wonder if these is a result of "Gangs in Rosemount"???
