Hoppensperger did a marginal job representing the current issues of charitable gaming in the state of Minnesota. Charitable gaming in past years had been a huge contributor to charities and they still make significant contributions. Just not as much. There was a time when most gaming managers of charitable gaming operations could budget a month’s revenues based on the revenue’s of the same month in the prior year. This is true no more. What should have been researched and explained better in Hoppensperger’s article is why?

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100.
If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go some thing like this:The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.The fifth would pay $1.The sixth would pay $3.The seventh would pay $7.The eighth would pay $12.The ninth would pay $18.The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. 'Since you are all such good customers, he said, 'I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20. Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.
The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?'
They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But, if they subtracted that from every body's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer.So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.And so:
The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh now paid $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).
Each of the six was better off than before And the first four continued to drink for free. But, once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.'I only got a dollar out of the $20', declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man, 'but he got $10!''Yeah, that's right', exclaimed the fifth man. 'I only saved a dollar,too. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore.

Financial Institution Bailout! Not a good idea - Different take.
Senator Charles Schumer suggested that government inject funds into financial companies in exchange for equity stakes and pledges to rewrite mortgages and make them more affordable. House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank, a Massachusetts Democrat, this week proposed Congress create a federal entity to buy bad loans. Senator Hillary Clinton of New York, a former candidate for the Democratic nomination for president, proposed resurrecting a 1930s-era agency to stem foreclosures. ``We need a modern day Home Owners' Loan Corporation,'' Clinton said in remarks at the Senate today. ``There will not be any semblance of a normal or orderly market'' without ``quarantining'' the devalued loans outstanding, she said. There are many people who are against this bailout because they feel that the fat cat CEOs of failed companies shouldn't get out of the mess they created. That the Federal government would end up buying assets for about 50 cents on the dollar that is only worth 20 cents. New home construction is very slow because there are too many homes and not enough buyers. These people believe that these companies gotten into this mess and only the invisible hand of economics should correct it.
Others think that without this bailout things would go from bad to worse. The pipeline of credit will continue to stopped up and constipated. Banks wouldn't lend money to each other money wouldn't be available to business for start up and expansion, money for home mortgages and consumer loans will tighten up. The Bail out would allow the Federal government slowly get these assets back into the economy at a value greater than they were purchased from the failing banks.
I see a more long term picture. I think these factors are insignificant to what is happening and more importantly is going to happen during next 20 years. See, I look more at the future of the population of the United States. There is a transition that's going to happen where the largest population is going to leave the work force and go into retirement. There is an estimated 80 million Americans born between 1946 and 1964 that are at this time just beginning to enter into retirement.

There has been a steady trend of a rising employment-population ratio since 1960. This is mostly due to more women joining the work force. It is very possible that this underlying trend is now flat, or even declining slightly, as the baby boomers start to leave the work force. Recessions happen when the working population decreases. First as more of the Baby Boomers leave the workforce the economy growth in the United States will either slow or decline. Recessions would be more common as groups of Baby Boomers leave the work force.
So how to the Baby Boomers effect the credit market? As people age in retirement, many of them think about down sizing their living arrangements. Retirement communities where they have to do little maintain a home. This means leaving that big home for a smaller home where all the outside maintenance can be taken care of through association dues. Millions of retiring Baby boomers will move in this direction. Large American houses will continue to drop in price because the next generation (Generation X) will not be a large enough population and wealthy enough to occupy them all. We might even see many low end starter homes get torn down because of lack of demand. The value of those town down homes would be written off.
By doing this bail out we are just making the pain last until the next housing market crisis ramps up again over the next 20 years. We should not do this bailout because we will get through this quicker and be prepared for the baby Boomer Recession(s) that's going to happen over the next 20 years.

Another worthy person lost to the bogus global foot print scam.
During the World War II German occupation of Poland, Irena Sendler lived in Warsaw (prior to that, she lived in Otwock and Tarczyn) while working for urban Social Welfare Departments. As early as 1939, when the Germans invaded Poland, she began helping Jews by offering them food and shelter. Irena and her helpers created over 3,000 false documents to help Jewish families, prior to joining the organized resistance of Żegota and the children's division. Helping Jews was very risky—in German-occupied Poland, all household members risked a death sentence if they were found to be hiding any Jews. This punishment was more severe than those applied in other occupied European countries.
In December 1942, the newly created Children's Section of the Żegota (Council for Aid to Jews), nominated her (under her cover name Jolanta) to head its children's department. As an employee of the Social Welfare Department, she had a special permit to enter the Warsaw Ghetto, to check for signs of typhus, something the Nazis feared would spread beyond the ghetto. During the visits, she wore a Star of David as a sign of solidarity with the Jewish people and so as not to call attention to herself.
In December 1942, the newly created Children's Section of the Żegota (Council for Aid to Jews), nominated her (under her cover name Jolanta) to head its children's department. As an employee of the Social Welfare Department, she had a special permit to enter the Warsaw Ghetto, to check for signs of typhus, something the Nazis feared would spread beyond the ghetto. She cooperated with the Children's Section of the Municipal Administration, linked with the RGO (Central Welfare Council), a Polish Relief Organization tolerated under German supervision. She organized the smuggling of Jewish children from the Ghetto, carrying them out in boxes, suitcases and trolleys. Under the pretext of conducting inspections of sanitary conditions during a typhoid outbreak, Sendler visited the ghetto and smuggled out babies and small children in ambulances and trams, sometimes disguising them as packages. She also used the old courthouse of the edge of the Warsaw Ghetto (still standing) as one of the main routes of smuggling children out. The children were placed with Polish families, the Warsaw orphanage of the Sisters of the Family of Mary or Roman Catholic convents such as the Sisters Little Servants of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Mary at Turkowice and Chotomów. Some were smuggled to priests in parish rectories where they could be further hidden. She hid lists of their names in jars, in order to keep track of their original and new identities. Żegota assured the children that, when the war was over, they must be returned to Jewish relatives.
In 1943, Sendler was arrested by the Gestapo, severely tortured, and sentenced to death. Żegota saved her by bribing German guards on the way to her execution. She was left in the woods, unconscious and with broken arms and legs. She was listed on public bulletin boards as among those executed. For the remainder of the war, she lived in hiding, but continued her work for the Jewish children. After the war, she dug up the jars containing the children's identities and began an attempt to find the children and return them to living parents. However, almost all the children's parents had died at the Treblinka extermination camp.
In 2007, considerable publicity accompanied a nomination of Sendler for the Nobel Peace Prize. Although failed nominees for the award are not publicly announced by the Nobel organization for 50 years, this publicity focused a spotlight upon Sendler and her wartime contribution. The 2007 award, however, was presented to Al Gore, former Vice President of the United States, and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

How many zeros in a billion?
This is too true to be funny. The next time you hear a politician use the word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about whether you want the 'politicians' spending! YOUR tax money.

Mathematical proof that there is no “climate crisis”
WASHINGTON (7-15-08)- Mathematical proof that there is no “climate crisis” appears today in a major, peer-reviewed paper in Physics and Society, a learned journal of the 10,000-strong American Physical Society, SPPI reports.The American Physical Society was founded in 1899 and is the world's second largest organization of physicists, behind the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft. The Society publishes more than a dozen science journals, including the world renowned Physical Review and Physical Review Letters, and organizes more than twenty science meetings each year. Over 40,000 members belong to the Society.Christopher Monckton, who once advised Margaret Thatcher, demonstrates via 30 equations that computer models used by the UN’s climate panel (IPCC) were pre-programmed with overstated values for the three variables whose product is “climate sensitivity” (temperature increase in response to greenhouse-gas increase), resulting in a 500-2000% overstatement of CO2’s effect on temperature in the IPCC’s latest climate assessment report, published in 2007. Climate Sensitivity Reconsidered [http://www.aps.org/units/fps/newsletters/200807/index.cfm] demonstrates that later this century a doubling of the concentration of CO2 compared with pre-industrial levels will increase global mean surface temperature not by the 6 °F predicted by the IPCC but, harmlessly, by little more than 1 °F. Perhaps, therefore, there is no ‘climate crisis’ at all. … The correct policy approach to a non-problem is to have the courage to do nothing.”Larry Gould, Professor of Physics at the University of Hartford and Chair (2004) of the New England Section of the American Physical Society (APS), has been studying climate-change science for four years. He said:
“I was impressed by an hour-long academic lecture which criticized claims about ‘global warming’ and explained the implications of the physics of radiative transfer for climate change. I was pleased that the audience responded to the informative presentation with a prolonged, standing ovation. That is what happened when, at the invitation of the President of our University, Christopher Monckton lectured here in Hartford this spring. I am delighted that Physics and Society, an APS journal, has published his detailed paper refining and reporting his important and revealing results.‘
“To me the value of this paper lies in its dispassionate but ruthlessly clear exposition – or, rather, exposé – of the IPCC’s method of evaluating climate sensitivity. The detailed arguments in this paper, and, indeed, in a large number of other scientific papers, point up extensive errors, including numerous projection errors of climate models, as well as misleading statements by the IPCC. Consequently, there are no rational grounds for believing either the IPCC or any other claims of dangerous anthropogenic ‘global warming’.”Lord Monckton’s paper reveals that –

Canadian farmer, Osama bin Laden and a Texan...

I bought a bird Feeder...
Here is an e-mail I received from my sister today.
I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch and filled it lovingly with seed. It was indeed a beautiful bird feeder.
Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food. But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the barbecue. Then came the bird poop. It was everywhere; on the patio tile, the chairs, the table...
everywhere!
Then some of the birds turned mean. They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket. And others birds were boisterous and loud. They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it
when it got low on food.
After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch anymore. So I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio. Soon, the back yard was like it used to be .. quiet, serene
and no one demanding their rights to a free meal. Now let's see ....
Our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care, and free education and allows anyone born here to be an automatic citizen. Then the illegals came by the millions. Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are housing 5 or more families; you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by a doctor in an emergency room because it is filled with illegals; your child's 2nd grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn't speak English.
Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box; I have to 'press one' to hear my bank talk to me in English, and people waving flags other than 'Old Glory' are squawking and screaming
in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties.
It's just my opinion but: maybe, just maybe, it's time for the government to take down the bird feeder. If you agree, pass it on; if not, continue cleaning up the poop.

Three Republician Candidates for Minnesota House of Representative District 37B
There are three Republician canditates for the Minnesota House of Representatives for District 37B. We have Judy Lindsay, Deb Kaczmarek and Dave Ganfield. All three are trying to win Dennis Ozment's seat.
Judy Lindsay has been a member of the School District 196 (Rosemount/Apple Valley/Eagan) School Board. She has done some Lobbying for right for life legislation at the state capital. Doing some more research she has been the Campaign Chair for the Lindner for State Rep back in 2005.

Well, not to be outdone, the Democrats in the U.S. Senate are taking up a resolution today that would force President Bush to withdraw our troops from Iraq whether we have reached our goals or not.
That's a dangerous move, and it's not just Republicans who think so. Two years ago, Senator Hillary Clinton said, "I don't think we should be setting a deadline ... that just gives a green light to the insurgents and the terrorists, that if they just wait us out they can basically have the country." Just two months ago, she reaffirmed her position: "I'm not going to support a specific deadline." Last week, Democrat Senator Evan Bayh said "I, for example, am not in support of circling a date on a calendar and saying, 'No matter what, we're out on that date.'" Democrat Senator Jim Webb agrees: "Anyone who tells you we can set a timetable for withdrawal doesn't understand war."
The experts also say that setting a deadline is a recipe for failure. The government's most recent National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq concluded that "If Coalition forces were withdrawn ... we judge that this almost certainly would lead to a significant increase in the scale and scope of sectarian conflict in Iraq." Our intelligence experts added, "If such a rapid withdrawal were to take place, we judge that the ISF [Iraqi Security Forces] would be unlikely to survive."
No one wants our brave men and women in uniform to come home as much as President Bush.
But to set a deadline for withdrawal with no consideration of the situation on the ground is a recipe for disaster. It would send the signal to the terrorists in Iraq that all they have to do is wait us out, and then sweep in when we retreat. It would send a signal to our enemies worldwide that we are not serious about the War on Terror. And it would send a signal to our troops that their efforts don't matter.
There is a way to bring our men and women home, and that is to help them achieve their goals. That's why the President is beefing up security in Baghdad, changing the way we interact and train Iraqi troops, and making sure the Iraqi government lives up to its responsibilities. It is these steps that will lead to an end to the war, not on the terrorists' terms, but on our terms.
Contact your Senators today. Tell them to oppose the Democrats' attempt to micromanage the war. Tell them that we cannot leave Iraq in the hands of terrorists.

GIULIANI: The ones I think have a better understanding of what their responsibility is and are willing to take a risk are the ones who are saying we've got to hold back the funds, we've got to vote against the war or we're for the war. And maybe it's because I ran a government and I tend to be a decisive person. I like decisions. And I think one of the things wrong with Washington is they don't want to make tough decisions anymore. Nonbinding resolution about Iraq, no decision on immigration, no decision on Social Security reform, no decision on what to do about energy independence, no decision. You know why that happens? Because it's unpopular.
