Rosemount Minnesota Speed Traps
Here are three Rosemount Minnesota Speed Traps.
I have seen the police tagging speeding cars in all of these areas.
County Trunk 42 near Auburn Avenue Rosemount, Minnesota
Officer sits on southbound side of County Rd 42 between Auburn Avenue and the Technical College on a dirt road used for construction. He's been there a couple of mornings usually near the middle of the month.
State Highway 3 near County Trunk 42 Rosemount, Minnesota
HWY 3 both north and southbound from the highschool to county rd 42. This area sees a high volume of traffic stops as it is a main artery that also contains a speed limit change as you move through downtown. Be wary at any time of day in this area, but be extra careful between midnight to 3AM, as there are three bars within a one block radius that tend to draw a lot of officer attention.
County Trunk 42 near Akron Avenue Rosemount, Minnesota
Squads patrol County Rd 42 from Highway 52 to Highway 3. They like to sit near the Vo-Tech and will stop at 10 over. They don't have any unmarked squads, but it doesn't seem to matter. They'll get you anyway.
These were taken from the
County Road 42 is one way that all the western Dakota County police (Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eagan) use to transport people into the Dakota County Courthouse in Hastings Minnesota. The other way I've seen police cars (Farmington and Lakeville) go to and from Hastings is 160th St.

From Buildings
To empty lot!
The last few weeks the contractors used their bulldozers and equipment to tear down three buildings on the West side of Highway 3 in Rosemount MN.
Ohh, the wheels of progress! Stay tuned for further developments. What do you think will fill this lot space? Guess now. Whoever guesses right will win a prize.

Minnesota Winter Desperate Times for Squirrel
This is the view from our front window of our suet cakes we put out for the BIRDS. This squirrel went after a suet cake that hangs 20 feet off the ground. He did get some of it before slipping. At that point, it was hanging by one paw from the bottom of the eve.
His mission: To either continue seeking food from the eve and risk falling to his sure (well, almost sure) death or try to get back on the roof. It seemed that he realized he was in a position to get more. He didn't seem to notice that he was in deep trouble.
Yes, the squirrel did lose his grip and ended up falling -- but not his "sure death!" The squirrel ran up on the roof again from a tree and tried to get at it two more times before giving up for the day. I tried getting some video but didn't quite have enough time for that. Perhaps next time I'll get the squirrel on video.

Twin Cities Minnesota Blizzard December 11, 2010
This video was taken through the windows of our home in Rosemount, Minnesota, showing the blizzard that closed major freeways and highways because of the snow and the wind. Storm total snow accumulation of 12 to 17 inches and tonight it will get down to -9 F (-22 C).
Forcasted for today was going to be snow. Snow started at midnight this morning. It will continue this afternoon and it will snow into the night. Catriona, a friend of ours from Scotland, wanted to come and stay with us in January (sometime). Umm… well… winter can be good and it can be bad as evidenced in the video on this post. I really think that she would like it here better in late summer. She would really like the State Fair and the shopping at the Mall of America. At that time, Cliff, Zoaunne and I could show her how to catch her limit in fish in one of our lakes.
I went outside to brush the snow off my car, shovel the sidewalk and clear off the driveway with the snow blower. The wind is blowing from 20 to 30 MPH (32 – 48 KMH) so that makes the wind chill very cold! It seemed that I no sooner got done clearing it all off, when the snow was already starting to drift up again. Will be at it again later...

March Snow
In the darkness there outside it snows,
It falls silently throughout the plane.
Quiet all except for the train horn,
the land becomes white all the same.
The trees will become heavy with snow
stacked on their branches.
branches so burdened and low.
Snow high on roofs and fences.
To watch I stopped and paused,
the air is thick with snow, each flake is thick.
It seems so silent without a cause
so quiet I hear my wristwatch tick.
Oh I sense the wind will follow.
I can just hear the the Whoooosh
The wind will be through the hollows
to release the trees from their burden of clods.
It falls silently throughout the plane.

Ribs and Darts at Rosemount VFW
Tonight Z and I met Connie at the Rosemount VFW for their rib dinner. For $5 you can get a simple rib dinner with coleslaw and a roll. This is only on the the fourth Friday of the month. On the third Friday they have a $8 steak fry.
After dinner I played some darts with Charlie, Pat and some other guy (sorry I can't remember his name). Charlie throws darts like Montana. He throws overhand like pitching a baseball.
I talked to Pat awhile, and he wants me to join the VFW Monday night Dart League. It's not sanctioned but it is a handicap league.
Though it would be fun, I would like to be a little more flexible and just play additional dart games not in a league, but with either casually or in bar tournaments. One league is enough for now. I would like to play in at least six bar tournaments a year.

FREE Beer on Friday, 5-6pm

Just came back from taking our allocation of free beer at McDivots -- after spending the afternoon scouting new fly fishing spots in the area. At one point, I felt like I was lost in a gulley in Montana on some backwater dirt road -- not to be connected to a cell tower -- yet only 30 miles from home!
Visit the munitions walls on UMore lands in Rosemount.
A stop in the Cannon River Winery brightened the journey. We loaded up with a case of wine, toured the local river condos for sale and headed back to home -- only to be detoured by FREE Beer from 5-6 pm at McDivots. We've decided this will be our weekly weekend kick-off! Join us...

Graffiti Occurs in Rosemount
Rudy's Redeye Grill
Last night Z and I ate at Rudy's Redeye Grill.
The Rosemount location of the Rudy's Redeye Grill is a franchised bar and restaurant that has a large open space a tin style ceiling. The pricing of their food is in the $9 to $25 per plate range.
Here is how their website describes this restaurant: "Rudy's Redeye Grill in Rosemount is a casual fine dining restaurant serving lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. In addition to a beautiful dining room, there is a huge bar, a piano bar and patio. Rudy's is the 14th addition to the Axel's Bonfire family where people come by choice, not by chance."
Z had the chicken pot pie and I had the pizza. We have eaten their before and like the food. Our main issue with the restaurant is that when it is only about half capacity it becomes noisy. The acoustics doesn't allow the sound to deaden, The noises just bounce of the wood floors and hard ceiling. It isn't a place to go if you would want to eat in an calm and relaxing atmosphere over the evening dinner hours. Early to late afternoon when it isn't so crowded it can be more quiet.
